Evolution – of an Online Entrepreneur!

The Life-Cycle of an Online Affiliate Marketer

What stage of growth as an online entrepreneur/affiliate marketer are you. How would you rank/categorise yourself?

Be honest – this is a self-assessment. I have created some parameters (definitions) so we can better serve our members in recommending the best fit in regards to marketing systems, automation tools and affiliate products/offers for them to market.

  • Stage 1 – new entrant / beginner
  • Stage 2 – intermediate
  • Stage 3 – advanced
  • Stage 4 – experienced
  • Stage 5 – expert

How would you categorise yourself at the moment? … here is some more information that will help you.

Stage 5 – expert

  • makes a full-time income & lives off the Internet
  • consistently earning $10k or more online
  • has multiple offers (and therefore income streams)
  • has fully integrated systems
  • has their own front end offer(s)
  • has their own membership site
  • possibly does their own events or workshops
  • may have a brand (not all experts are in the public domain)

Stage 4 – experienced

  • makes a full-time income from the Internet
  • makes $10k or more however NOT living off the Internet
  • has multiple offers (and therefore income streams)
  • has many systems maybe not all fully integrated
  • has their own front end offer(s)
  • may have their own membership site
  • probably doesn’t do their own events or workshops
  • may have a brand or is developing oneIn this stage you can see some BIG gaps that differentiate the experienced from the expert. It’s not just defined by Income earnings or living off the Internet full-time. There are gaps in systems/automation etc.

Stage 3 – advanced

  • makes sporadic income online
  • less than $10k probably less than $5k and its hit and miss
  • maybe has a few offers (probably not low ticket to high ticket)
  • has a marketing system and auto-responder
  • is building their own email list
  • has a front end offer(s) but not their own product
  • probably doesn’t have their own membership site
  • probably has their own Facebook Group / Page
  • is starting to build a community of followers via social media
  • doesn’t do their own events or workshops
  • is conscious of building a brand and is just starting to grow
  • regularly producing content in various formats

Stage 2 – intermediate

  • consciously competent
  • understands economics and the 5 key fundamentals
  • dabbling with various marketing techniques
  • makes sporadic income online
  • less than $5k and probably less than $1k monthly
  • maybe only has one back-end offer
  • learning they need a low ticket to high ticket offer
  • needs a marketing system to build funnels
  • needs an auto-responder to build their own email list
  • probably only has one front end offer
  • needs to have their own Facebook Group / Page
  • needs to build a community of followers via social media

Stage 1 – beginner

  • unconsciously incompetent
  • you don’t yet know what you don’t know
  • eager anticipation mixed with a degree of skepticism
  • learning the 5 Key fundamentals of online marketing
  • need to learn how to create the systems & a marketing budget
  • need systems and a product(s) to market
  • need truthful mentoring and coaching
  • needs to be resourceful and assign a budget to start online

Truth / Tuff Love – less than 1% of people will have success online if they try to start a business with NO Money!

Your better off not wasting your time until you can afford at least the very basic start up cost.

  • Low-end budget – $150 upfront and at least $60 / month
  • Sweet Spot – $1,300 upfront and at least $60 / month
  • Top end budget – $2,500 upfront and at least $150 / month

Note: the above excludes paid traffic expenses

Paid traffic expenses could be as high as 20-30% of your target monthly income goal so for example if you had a goal of $10k / month you may have to budget $2k – $3k for your paid advertising dependant on what you strategy and tactic is ( … this is a broad rule of thumb to be used as a guide only).

The monthly figure above relates to subscription costs associated with tools for example maybe an automated emailing system or a sales funnel builder etc. This is a low end broad allowance. Subject to how sophisticated your 3rd party tools and resources are you could spend anywhere from $300 – $1k per month on “other” systems and training etc.

If your looking to earn top end commissions from $1k to $20k per transaction you may consider investing in High Ticket Affiliate Marketing (HTAM) and therefore your budget for ‘positioning’ will range from $2,497 up to $57,000 dependant on the company / system you are associated with. These are typically one time investments for life-long licence rights.
